How to choose the right plotter paper

How to choose the right plotter paper

How to choose the right plotter paper

When searching for plotter paper, you are usually looking for something around 80 or 90 grams for printing things like line drawings, architectural drawings, facade drawings, section drawings, floor plans, or electrical plans. Almost the entire industry works with printing in A0 or A1, so that you don't end up dealing with unclear A3 drawings. Therefore, all plotter paper is printed from a roll.
So you have to choose whether you want to use 80 or 90 gram paper.
The best-selling paper is clearly 90 gram plotter paper, so we recommend that. It has a bit of stiffness to it, making it easier to handle in everyday use.

Can I use a different paper than the one marked on my plotter?

A typical misconception we often encounter is that because you have, for example, an HP plotter, you can only use HP plotter paper. This is a big misunderstanding. Even if you have, for example, an HP plotter, you can still use Epson or Canon plotter paper in the printer. Both Epson, Canon, and HP use the same printing technology, so you are not limited in your choice of plotter paper.

Good tips for buying plotter paper

1. Paper size
First and foremost, you need to know the correct size. The two most commonly used sizes are A1 and A0.
A1 - 840 x 594 mm
A0 - 1188 x 840 mm
2. Gram weight
The next thing to consider is the gram weight of your plotter paper:
The paper's gram weight defines the thickness of the paper. Even though it may be tempting to buy 80 gram paper, we see that most people are happier working with a 90 gram quality.
